What you'll need:
- Cardboard Caiman Template
- Scissors (grown-up supervision needed!)
- Pencil
- Paint (beige, olive green, or bright green are great choices!)
- Paintbrush
- Markers (optional)
Step 1: Print & Trace!
• Download and print the Caiman Template above [right click to download].
• Cut out the template (get a grown up to help)
• Grab a piece of cardboard (old packaging works great!).
• Place the template on the cardboard and trace around the body and legs with your pencil.
Step 2: Cut & Prepare!
• Carefully cut out the traced shapes from the cardboard. You'll need a grown-up to help with the cutting, especially for tricky curves.
• Look for the dotted lines on the body template. These are where the legs will attach later.
Step 3: Paint Your Caiman!
• Unleash your creativity! Paint your caiman any color you like. Beige (like the illustration on my alphabet), olive green, and bright green are great choices for a realistic look, but don't be afraid to get wild!
• Let the paint dry completely.
Step 4: Face Time!
• Once the paint is dry, use markers to add a face to your caiman. Will it have a friendly smile or a toothy grin? The choice is yours!
• Feeling fancy? Use markers to add scales all over your caiman's body.
• Carefully snip along the dotted lines on the body template you cut out earlier. Slide the legs into the slots created by the snips on the body.
Step 7: Playtime!
Your cardboard caiman is complete! Time to explore the rainforest swamp, stalk your prey (stuffed animals work great!), or simply relax in the sun. ENJOY!
