A is for Anchor. Z is for Zooplankton, which is perhaps the most honest way an alphabet about the sea has ever ended. In between, the letters make their way steadily along the coast and out into the water, past a buoy, a crab, a dolphin, a gull, beach huts, an inflatable, a jellyfish, kelp, a lighthouse, a mermaid, a nautilus, an oyster catcher, a pirate ship, a quadrant, a rope, a starfish, a tug boat, an urchin, a whale, X marks the spot, and a yacht. Twenty six letters, and almost all of the sea.
E is for Ensign, and that flag can be any country you like. Y is for Yacht, and the small flag on the yacht can match. It is a small thing, but it tends to make the print feel as though it was made for the specific person it is going to, which is rather the point.
I hand illustrated every letter and print on archival fine art paper. I make each one to order in Somerset, so it arrives ready to go straight into a frame.
